Tread Assembly

On the morning Monday April 27, a crew arrived to assemble the big excavator. A truck from Coady's Towing with a 75 ton capacity crane was used to lift the various parts off the flatbed trucks and positioned them so they could be attached to the body of the machine. First order of business was get the two massive caterpillar treads attached.

Once the tread is in the air the flatbed trailer was pulled out

With the flatbed out of way, the tread was position for attachment to the excavator

With both treads now attached, the wood blocks were removed and a CAT 980K bucket loader was used to pull the trailer out from under the excavator.
